The City of Lakeville is a thriving community that embraces growth while remembering and honoring our history . With a population now estimated to be over 65,000 and growing at a rate among the fastest in the Twin Cities , we look forward to continued expansion in the residential , commercial , and industrial sectors of our economy .
Our residents are among Lakeville ’ s greatest assets as they support our local economy , schools , parks and trails , and our business community . Our business environment includes everything from an historic downtown and numerous retail centers to an industrial park with access to air , rail , and freight services . We are proud that our city is home to numerous corporate campus facilities , distribution centers , manufacturers , restaurants , and a multitude of retail options .
We are blessed with significant educational and sports opportunities for children and adults . We are served by public and private schools as well as a strong and diverse faith community . We love to celebrate our community with events like an annual arts festival and our Panorama of Progress ( Pan-O-Prog ) community celebration held over the week of the 4th of July . Our award-winning Parks and Recreation department supports our community with recreation opportunities and maintains 62 parks , two swimming beaches , and nearly 120 miles of trails .
In 2019 the City of Lakeville adopted our 2040 Comprehensive Plan which will help guide our community decisions over the coming decades and has a foundation in our Envision Lakeville plan . As a 37 year resident , I have witnessed considerable changes in our city , and I know that our community is even greater now than when my family first moved here . I hope that whether you are coming here to spend your vacation , expand or build your business , or consider our community for your new home , that you will agree with me .
