It’s also World Mental Health Day in October. What does “Black Health and Wellness,” mean when considering mental health?

It is an important conversation we need to have in the black community especially with black men. Black mental health is not highlighted enough.

What comes to mind when I say the words Black Joy to you?

Black joy is an expression of our achievements as a community. It’s family, togetherness and the love we pour into each other.

What Black creators, organisations, or movements inspire/empower you?

Issa Rae, Lena Waite and Ava DuVernay – these are strong Black women in the arts creating the much needed content that we can identify with.

Have you ever experienced barriers due to your ethnicity?

Definitely there have been barriers, but I have not allowed it to define me or my career journey.

 

What is your favourite Black TV show?

Insecure, Rise and Queen Sugar, they are programmes that I can identify with.

 

What do you enjoy about your job?  

I love that no day is ever the same.

 

What are your top tips for Black talent in TV to get ahead in the industry?

Learn your craft, adapt and network.
