Steven Meisel proves that fashion editorials are truly a form of art. The layout of this editorial in Italian Vogue February 2015 was beautiful. The use of white borders and different sized images helped bring contrast to the dark factory set images.

The juxtaposition between the 'ugly' machines and the beautiful models was wonderful to see it made the photographs really stand out and become original. Women are also the main focus within this shoot, which is not what you'd expect to see in a factory setting - again a point of difference.

Lighting in fashion photography is probably one of the hardest, yet most important things to get right. For me Steven Meisel gets it perfect in the editorial. The settings are so dark yet light shines perfectly on the models faces to enhance their facial structures. It brings an element of silhouette to the photos.

Slow shutter speeds were used too to give the images a feeling of movement - which you would expect from a factory. Even though areas of the images are blurred there is always a strong focus point that is usually the model.
