Learn how to manage it... By: Mayar Mansy
Stress may seem like an inescapable phase of life. Time management, relationships, expectations and responsibilities are causing trouble and will always be demanding. In fact, the simple realization that you are the one in control of your life is the foundation of stress management. Managing stress is mostly about taking charge of your thoughts, emotions, schedule, and the way you deal with issues.
The factors we can use to assess stress are attitude, diet, physical activity, support systems and relaxation. A person’s attitude greatly influences whether or not a certain situation is stressful. If you keep up with a positive attitude, you will definitely report less stress than someone with a negative attitude. In the same manner, if you have a poor diet, your body will be in a state of physical stress and it will weaken your immune system. A poor diet includes unhealthy food choices, not eating sufficient amounts, or not having a normal schedule. According to MedlinePlus, this form of physical stress also decreases your chances of dealing with emotional stress, because not getting the right nutrition may affect the way the brain processes information. Similarly, when we do not get enough physical activity, we are putting our bodies in a stressed state. Physical activity can benefit us in many ways, including encouraging a feeling of well-being. We all need someone in our lives that we can rely on when we go through hardships. Having slight or no support makes stressful situations unmanageable and difficult to deal with. We also need outside interests, hobbies or other activities that we can get our stress out in. Moreover, seven to eight hours of sleep each night helps many to cope with stress. It is extremely essential to relax and rest our bodies as well. According to Fox News, we also need to limit internet and cell phone use because through these, we are exposing ourselves to more stress.
