she has come far from hard work, dedication, and luck, others were not as fortunate. This war was based on beliefs, and as she mentioned, beliefs are a principle part of life. Though she could not bring many of her belongings or her social status with her, she brought her ideas and passion. As a mother with five children, the Vietnam War changed everything, yet she took many risks with the hope that freedom was in reach. This war was more than politics and battling between countries. This war was the cause of many lives and homes lost. Though some may learn about this through history class or read about it briefly in an article, the Vietnam War meant so much more than the numbers and statistics you hear. This was just one family’s story. There are millions of others out there who have silently struggled and gone unnoticed. It was a very significant time in the world, yet many, including myself, knew minimal information regarding this topic. Even if history seems to have nothing to do with our lives, it is always rooted in our identities as a civilization, country, community, and individual people. Please take it seriously the next time you pick up a textbook, read an article or hear something on the news and consider what it would be like to have your world shatter.
