In this time of modernity, we might be feeling like something is missing in our lives. We might know that many indigenous wisdom teachings nourished wellbeing for communities around the world has been hidden, destroyed, or taboo. In addition, many wisdom teachings have things that were kept for only the most priveleged people. Many of us have lost our connection to our elders' wisdom as they may have lost connection to their elders' wisdom. This is a collective wound many of us hold in our being at this time.

The world wide web can offer any teaching one can imagine to search for. It is my opinion we are witnessing an opportunity for the emergence of new wisdom teachings and cultures relevant to this modern world based on long standing wisdom. This is not something that can be purchased, stolen, or faked. Wisdom is rooted in deep connection and genuine presence in the time it takes to build relationships with all forms of life.

There was good reason for many teachings to be held in a lineage and by oral traditions. It is very important to have respect, regard and if possible relationship for the people who have carried the fire and the ways of walking in traditional ways to learn from. In modern ways of walking, often in survival mode, scarcity of time, and overwhelm with social relationships, it might feel very difficult to do this well.

May we have compassion, care, and grace for ourselves and each other's journey while we work to honor the integrity of orginal teachings as well as teachers sharing in modern ways. May you take time to find out more of the wisdom teachings that lay dormant in your dna. Who has come before you to learn and support your walk today? Who is in your family tree and who has shaped your cultural perspectives and values?
