“No, I can’t!” Jesey freaked out. Jesey was freaking out, shouting and yelling at mom while her dad lost control of the car and it bumped into a tree. Luckily, the children and their dad were ok but mom's nose was bleeding. They rushed to the hospital hoping nothing was serious. Due to all this confusion, they forgot all about the vacation and Jesey's notebook! They were waiting in the waiting room to hear some good news from the doctor, but it appeared that the news wasn't good. Mom's nose was broken, and it needed a quick operation. Jesey was crying and shouting, "It was all my fault!“, no matter how sincerely her dad was trying to comfort her.
Thankfully, mom‘s surgery was successful, and she started recovering pretty quickly. Once they returned home, Jesey couldn’t find her notebook. She was so upset that she almost started crying. Suddenly, she heard a shallow knock at the door, so she went downstairs to open it. As the door opened, Jesey saw a mailman standing outside. He was holding a strange package. He immediately said, “This package was left at my doorstep this morning. It had this beautiful linen string that secured a note saying ‘Please, bring this package to 22nd of Evergreen Street, Glendale".
Stunned, Jesey thanked the man and closed the door. She wondered who had sent this box to her, so she hurried up and opened it. What a surprise! There was her notebook! She got super excited and decided to check if it was actually hers. As she flipped through colourful pages, a handwritten messy note fell out of the book. She lifted up the note from the ground and checked it out. It was a note from her grandfather, dated April 16th, 1978. Jesey read, “I know that soon you’ll be travelling to the Alps; don’t forget this notebook. It’s special, and it’ll protect you and your family from all the dangers in the upcoming trip. I love you, grandpa.” Jesey got scared and confused. For a second, she felt like she was about to faint.
