She was almost out of her room when a green, long arm wrapped around her. Suddenly everything went black. When she woke up, she was back at the witch's house. She could see Lily and was about to go grab her when she realized she couldn’t. In fact, she couldn’t move at all. The girl looked around in distress and realized she had thick chains wrapped around her legs, arms, neck and waist. Lavender was absolutely trapped. She could hear a squeaking sound. It was Lily. Only then Lavender realized the situation she was in. She was about to watch her beloved pet be eaten. She started moving rapidly. Lavender couldn’t let Lily die. While she was trying to get to her mouse, the chains were hitting against each other, which created a lot of noise. The witch must have heard all the noise, so she went rushing into the room. “So you’re awake then. Good. Your misery will make my meal so much more enjoyable.” The witch said so as soon as she walked into the room. “You know, I thought you weren’t going to see that little pest die. But you're awake now, and the water has almost boiled, so let’s get this show on the road.” she said excitedly. Little did the evil witch know while she was blabbering the girl, whom she so desperately wanted to upset, had discovered a way out.

When the witch left the room, Lavender noticed a little glowing hole in the ground. „I need a miracle to help me,” she whispered, closing her eyes. Suddenly, the girl heard a voice saying, „If you sit and do nothing, your mouse will be eaten.”  Lavender opened her eyes and saw a black cat walking around her. „You can talk!”- exclaimed the girl looking at the cat with a blank stare. ‘Sure, why not?’ said the cat ‘But we don’t have time for it now. What are you waiting for?! Break the chair you are sitting on.”  Lavender fell down on the floor together with the old wooden chair which broke into pieces and the chains fell off. The witch ran in shouting „Don’t you dare!” Suddenly, she stopped after noticing the cat. „You!” she screamed and ran back upstairs.

The cat quickly jumped into the hole with Lavender following it. On the other side of the hole Lavender saw a little door in front of her. „The door is too small for me to get to the other side,’ said the girl with a sad face. Suddenly, the door started moving and Lavender saw the cat behind it with something in its hands. „Is this mouse yours?” asked the cat. Lavender’s face changed when she saw it was her Lily. She grabbed the little mouse and kissed her. Lavender could not believe that her mouse was saved by this talking cat.  „Good for you that we don’t actually eat mice anymore. Little spiders are much better,” the cat smiled.
