When they had come to her father’s place, she was nearly desperate—she could hardly say that this evil man was once her beloved father, and by now the only thing she could recall was his face.

He was ready to fight, standing there with his sword and looking at them with fire in his eyes. And they were ready as well. Selene had never been so sure about what she had to do in her life until this very moment. Being fully determined, she tried to give her father the first blow—she ran at him, swinging her sword. Yet before she could even understand what had just happened, she had already been thrown back, and her sword was in another part of the room.

Artemis had lasted way longer than his dearest Selene did; fighting with Hesperus was a bit easier for him. Despite that, every time he thought he would hurt the evil man in any way, he simply couldn’t. Hesperus, as it seemed, knew everything the young man was going to do and where he was going to attack. Artemis looked really exhausted but was still trying his best.

And as it always happens, one wrong move helped decide everything. Artemis was now disarmed. Selene had tried to get to her weapon, but she couldn't—it was just behind her father. All she could do was beg Hesperus not to touch Artemis, her only hope to win this battle. It didn’t work.

Lying there and watching as her beloved Artemis was killed had awakened something distinctively unique inside her. Her heart was broken into small pieces, and there was only one thought in her head. She would do anything to stop her father from hurting others. As Selene was standing up with the greatest care, she made it clear for herself that Hesperus had already left the battlefield. There was now only one place where she could find him taking full advantage of his triumph—the coronation hall.

When Selene entered the coronation hall, she saw her once-dearest father sitting on the throne. However, she didn’t feel that it was her father in front of her; she saw a cruel king instead. Despite this, Selene knew that it wasn’t his fault—it was a curse that needed to be broken apart, and she was the only one who could save Hesperus. Hesperus’s gaze was full of emptiness, and he saw only evil around him, as it was this evil that prevailed in every single one of his actions. Even though Selene was his daughter, the king didn’t feel any love or tenderness towards her. The brave girl didn’t lose hope and resolutely went to his throne. Selene knew that somewhere in the depth of his soul, there was still some kindness left. She soon started to recall all the warm and awesome memories of her childhood that they shared in the hopes of aiding him in this way.
