Outnumbered Ilovaysk garrison has been finally pushed back by attacking forces after almost two weeks of vain attempts and indiscrimate shelling of residential areas.
However DPR troops have lost control only over a part of town stopping Ukrainan government troops in urban fights in the middle of town by the moment crisis has reached its peak.
The time, bought by resistence of town defenders was enough for Motorola's unit to arrive and push the attacking forces back.
Exploiting enemy's tactical mistakes in urban fights, Motorola's company jointly with Givi's squad drove "Donbas" and "Dnepr-1" battalions out of town, causing them substantial losses.
At the same time forces of "Vostok" and "Oplot" brigades outflanked Ukrainian troops group under Ilovaysk trapping them into the "Ilovaysk cauldron".
The situation turned catastrophic for Ukrainan troops who weren't allowed to entrench in town by Givi and Motorola's troops. Hundreds of men have been lost killed, even more injured and taken captive.

Following Russian Federation president's appeal, rebels agreed to provide corridor for trapped Ukrainian units to evacuate, however under condition that Ukrainian troops leave the "cauldron" without heavy weapons.
On the night of 30th August, "Donbas" battalion commander used his social network page to announce that Ukrainian government has reached agreement with rebels to let them leave cauldron with weapons, however DPR command denied such claims. Following attempt to leave the cauldron with heavy armament were concidered as breakthrough and suppressed, causing new losses to already bled out troops.
Ukrainian soldiers who had been taken captive during this operation have been released during the exchange procedures in September.
The importance of this operation is difficult to overestimate. For example it affected the southern front, as Ukrainian command has taken almost all of their reserves from there leaving it in fact naked, that allowed DPR to traverse the operative void between Amvrosiyevka and Novoazovsk with forces of mere recon-subversive groups and take Novoazovsk outskirts, and Novoazovsk itself soon after. The same void in Ukraine govt forces rear opened NAF the road to Mariupol and Zaporozhye oblast, however these military results have been lost in result of Minsk negotiations.
As for Givi and Motorola — it was first joint operation of their units together, although they've both been acquainted with each other since battle for Slavyansk.
