"What is homosurrealism?"
Jack Fritscher, PhD
Jack Sanders founded the online magazine "Homosurrealism" and the art movement in Atlanta in 2015 to introduce readers to exotic, color and dreamlike photography, painting, writing, music, and video expressing the queer subconscious mind in the 21st century. As part of the Resistance, "homosurrealism" adds gaydar to Surrealism to disarm its twentieth-century homophobia. In forty-four monthly issues, Sanders has shown more than 100 internationally recognized artists and writers, including Rick Castro, Kenneth Anger, Bruce laBruce, Scooter LaForge, Piotr Urbaniak, Cesar Terranova, Claudio Parentela, Ron Kibble and founding contributing editor, Jack Fritscher. Promoted by galleries such as the Leslie-Lohman Museum, magazines like "We Are Obscured" and "Glimp Mag" Homosurrealism has curated exhibits in NYC, LA, New Orleans, London, Berlin and Warsaw. The European connection is Berlin artist Piotr Urbaniak. The Warsaw exhibition on June 6, 2018 was promoted by LABT Warsaw.
