The somber sky mirrored the visages of the people on the ground – foreboding, icy, and wrinkled with furious clouds. But quite abruptly, as I descended, the heavens grew dark with rain. Eventually, it began to pour.

I noticed the queue to view the casket was shorter than usual – most held back, gathered under black umbrellas that hid their views of the coffin.
The beating of the rain against the stubborn soil was thunderous against my ears. I came to stand amongst the few still in line, but unlike them my eyes were dry. I did not acknowledge them, and they did not see me as I walked towards the casket. These mortals wept, trembled, clutched at their handkerchiefs, and clung to each other for comfort. I had no one to rely on, no one for comfort – I didn’t need anyone.
Another Lone Soul, Join The Club
I could still hear the rain pelting against the earth as I lifted the soul of the body and ascended back into the clouds.
The hues of the soul’s aura were unlike anything I had ever seen. Luscious shades of violet, indigo, and magenta radiated off of him. I could still see the shadow of his mortal face, his hazelnut hair, and amber eyes flecked with gold.
