The somber sky mirrored the visages of the people on the ground  foreboding, icy, and wrinkled with furious clouds. But quite abruptly, as I descended, the heavens grew dark with rain. Eventually, it began to pour. 

 

Let’s Get This Done Quickly 

I noticed the queue to view the casket was shorter than usual  most held back, gathered under black umbrellas that hid their views of the coffin. 

 

The beating of the rain against the stubborn soil was thunderous against my ears. I came to stand amongst the few still in line, but unlike them my eyes were dry. I did not acknowledge them, and they did not see me as I walked towards the casket. These mortals wept, trembled, clutched at their handkerchiefs, and clung to each other for comfort. I had no one to rely on, no one for comfort  I didn’t need anyone. 

Another Lone Soul, Join The Club 

I could still hear the rain pelting against the earth as I lifted the soul of the body and ascended back into the clouds. 

The hues of the soul’s aura were unlike anything I had ever seen. Luscious shades of violet, indigo, and magenta radiated off of him. I could still see the shadow of his mortal face, his hazelnut hair, and amber eyes flecked with gold.
