summer’s sweet refuge melts away

just like anything else

and i

tiptoe

into ambivalence

ever cautious not to miss my footing on stepping stones

tethered to nothing and promising everything.

with every movement

the crisp breath of adventure

the rising action to an unforeseen climax

it all seems to swell like a lump in my throat

and all of a sudden

a breath becomes a gasp.

the someday that never lived

{Leah K.}

i reach out my hand

pleading for answers hidden away

“you must wait and see, only time will tell.”

like settling snow waiting only brings more questions

sinking into gelid heaps and

time discloses nothing to me.
