Old Lady on a Hill

A family of no wealth, 

No money can ever last 

A woman with defective health 

A lady with wrinkles from years past

Through the dark,

Through the tears, 

It was time to face the truth.  

And confront the mother's worst fears. 

 

She didn't shake, 

Her love grew stronger, 

But part of her wasn't awake 

She knew she wouldn't live for much longer 

 

The old lady told her son, 

It is dark, watch your step,  

It is cold, keep yourself warm  

And so, what was done was done 

The lady smiled  

As she watched her son descend, 

There she sat, alone in the wild, 

Waiting for her end 

 

There's an old lady on a hill, 

Waiting for her death, 

There's an old lady on a hill, 

A body is all that is left. 

Son and mother, 

Too poor for food, 

They lived with only each other, 

From that, came gratitude

On the edge of starvation,  

The son made a choice

At night, his mother would be taken 

Leaving him drained of all joy

He planned to leave her on a hill, 

Even if it was against his will,  

Pitch black night, 

She knew
