Nairn Dunbar
Lying just to the east of its championship neighbour , Nairn Dunbar is over 100 years old . It is a links lying slightly inland from the sea with fairways channelled by gorse as well as pine and birch . These give holes their structure but they can ’ t hide the course ’ s links roots . Certainly the low , twisting terrain embraces traditional Scottish links and let ’ s not forget the pot bunkers , several of which are new . Even so , the small woods promise sweet hole shapes with a burn often coming in to play . There are some lovely characteristics – a lateral spine runs through the 4th green , and natural ridges create blind or semi-blind approach shots , with the par five 18th promising a sticky end . Holes 9 to 11 have recently been renovated to give them a more links feel . Host of the Amateur Championship 2021 .
