This has been quite the year of firsts - the first Match Day held on the Portland Campus, UNE COM's first orientation in the new building... first time on the Portland Campus. I could keep going but I'll simplify the process by saying that UNE COM is only just getting started!

This is my first edition as the new editor of the COMmunicator in my role as the Director of Student Events and Alumni Services within the Office of Recruitment, Student, and Alumni Services (RSAS) so I've had my fair share of firsts these past few months. My first role working with alumni is the most exciting and challenging followed closely with planning my first Match Day and Graduation!

There will be many more as I get to experience my first Alumni Weekend and Speed Networking, the Fall semester, and my first White Coat Ceremony (alongside our first year students).

Inside this edition, you will find a few different highlights of "firsts" as well as updates on what some of our alum have been up to since graduating from UNE COM.

One "first" that is near and dear to me is our 1st Generation Student Organization that has been revitalized by two 1st Gen students. As a 1st Gen myself, the support that a group like this can offer to fellow 1st Gen students and the connections it can develop is invaluable.

There is a lot of positive energy around UNE COM having made it's appearance on the Portland Campus. We know there are going to be some learning curves. That is half the excitement of being in a new place: the challenges that comes with it.
