Dear Colleagues,

I apologize that it’s been a while since we have sent out a newsletter. Christine O’Brian has now joined our team, and we are excited that she is helping us get back on track.

As some of you are aware, we held the formal ribbon cutting and opening of the Bibby ( the Harold and Bibby Alfond Center for Health Sciences) on June 3. There were many familiar faces, and it was quite an exciting event with so many COMmunity members in attendance. The event was covered by several media outlets which you can view here:

  • WMTC Coverage

  • Spectrum Local News Coverage

  • Portland Press Herald

  • Personally, I LOVE that we are recognized as Maine’s only medical school!

The newest osteopathic medical students joined us on June 23 for orientation and the second years arrived on July 1. The fourth years are doing audition rotations and our year three students started core clerkships on July 7. Since then, everything has been full steam ahead.

Back in March we held Match Day on the Portland campus to provide the graduating students and their families with a first peek at the facility. This year UNE COM had a Match rate of 98.4%, while the national average for DO’s was 92.6% and MD’s was 93.5%.
