Academy
EWCSD’s 2023 Summer Academy proved once again to be an outstanding success, hosting an impressive total of 1373 students across nine school sites. Summer Academy has been a valuable enrichment opportunity for students to both advance their learning capabilities and gain additional support in key academic areas. By providing students with a collaborative instructional atmosphere and engaging activities, students maintained motivation and enthusiasm outside the traditional school year.
One of the program’s key focus areas this summer was to review essential grade level standards in both Language Arts and Math. In elementary Math, the goal was to strengthen students’ math fluency and number sense through counting collections (K-2) and standards-based centers. Middle school math focused on building number sense and conceptual understanding of grade-level standards and concepts. In Language Arts, the goal was to strengthen reading foundational skills, literacy confidence and accelerate learning through a NGSS or Social Studies.
