First Bash at SLAS

by Jin Han

The Back to School Picnic Bash was held at Livingston American School for the first time on last Saturday afternoon. The bash was held to welcome another fun and interesting year at SLAS, and to get students, teachers, and family members together.

“It is very nice to have an event like this at school for everyone,” said Ms. Han, the parent of a student attending SLAS.

The bash was held on September 20th, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. There were many people present such as students, teachers, administrators, parents, and friends. Booths were set up for games, food, markets, and uniforms. Food is an important part of an event like this. Food and drinks were prepared by SLAS, Korean PTSA, Japanese PTSA, and student council. There was also food from outside of school, like Blue Frog and Mexican Lindo. Japanese and Korean kindergarteners, elementary and secondary students, and music teachers of SLAS performed for the SLAS members and visitors. Participants enjoyed their time playing sports and other various activities. Toward the end, there were fireworks to celebrate the special day at SLAS.

“I think it is wonderful!,” said Ms. Dina Thigpen (High school English teacher/ Head of English department at SLAS). “I didn’t expect to have this much people for the bash,” she later added.

The first picnic bash was held successfully at SLAS. It is a very valuable memory for everyone to remember. Many people had shown positive attitudes toward this new try. However, some people wished for improvements. Everyone is anticipating for a better bash next year.
