Lydia is a sixth grader who studies at Shanghai Livingston American School. As the date for taking her standardized test draws near, she is interviewed on several of the aspects of standardized testing. She feels extremely confident in her passing of her exams, since she felt that many of her teachers had thoroughly prepared her for the tests.

Calvin Ma: Which standardized test will you be taking this year?

Lydia Onculer: I am not sure what the name is, but I think I am only going to take math.

Calvin Ma: How do you feel about these tests, and why?

Lydia Onculer: They are pretty easy; because of the multiple choice questions, it is less likely for a student to miss a question.

Calvin Ma: Do you think these tests are fair for all students? Why or why not?

Lydia Onculer: Yes, I think these tests are fair because all of the students take it in the same room.

Calvin Ma: Did your teacher prepare you for the test? If so, how?

Lydia Onculer: Our teachers prepared us for this test by teaching the materials from books. I am confident that I can score high on this exam.

Calvin Ma: Do you think these tests will prepare students for high school or college in the future?

Lydia Onculer: Not quite, because the multiple choice questions already tell you the answer choices so there will be less chance of getting the questions wrong.

We'd like to take a minute to thank Lydia for her time and for answering the questions. Testing is an important part of a students life so we recommend to go online and develop better test taking skills. Good luck to all and we hope you receive high scores!
