The lady went quiet for a moment before responding. Probably contemplating the dense question I had blurted out. But no, in fact, I had kept my back to her, and apparently, she had noticed the card I had left on the ground. It was a good ploy to dodge the question I had asked.
“Is this your card?” She said; picking it up before being stricken by confusion. “My, I’ve never seen a card like this.
“You wouldn’t believe the story of such a card even if I told you,” I said. It was reasonable to assume. Who would fancy a fairy-tale-like story by a woman about to fall to her demise? If I were to not die here, I’d end up in an asylum!
