The woman greeted Liam with a crooked smile and broke the silence with the sound of her voice: ‘‘Greetings, Chosen one. Don’t be afraid of me, when I was your age I was just like you. I wanted to know about everything, but curiosity kills the cat. The little girl that grew up to become me was thinking that all this was just a family holiday, but by the scent that hung in the air, the scent of fear and death, I could tell it was all a lie… When I was sitting there, just like you, I felt a stream of air above my head and a big wrinkled hand landed on it. She handed me an envelope with an old piece of parchment inside. I read it and that’s when I found out...’’ 

When her last word drowned in the darkness the old woman handed Liam that same old envelope with then even an older piece of parchment inside. Liam could feel hot tears blurring his sight as his eyes widened in shock when he understood he had been chosen to follow their footsteps.
