Net Enrolment Rate Secondary

The Net Enrolment Rate at the Secondary level in the OECS is 86.15 for males 90.51 for females and 88.28 total. The Gender Parity Index of 1.05 indicates that there are more females in secondary cycle than males. There are variations amongst the Member States ranging from 62.3 to 98.9.

 

Percentage Private Enrolment Primary

The percentage of private enrolment at the primary level 15.56 for males 16.91 for females and 16.22 total. This indicates that most primary pupils are enrolled in public institutions. The level of private enrolment varies from one Member State to another possibly based on the associated costs.

 

Percentage Private Enrolment Secondary

The percentage of private enrolment at the secondary level is slightly higher that at the primary. Here, it is at 19.24 for males 20.45 for females and 19.81 total. The gender parity index is 1.06 indicating slightly more females are enrolled.

 

Pupil Teacher Ratio Primary

On average, across the OECS, there is approximately 1 teacher to 12 pupils in the primary cycle. Across the Member States these figures range from 9 to 16 per teacher.  Hence, there are further considerations to be explored such as but not limited to the level of inclusivity for persons with disabilities who require additional assistance. Also, financial feasibility should be factored in with the cost of hiring additional staff.

Pupil Teacher Ratio Secondary

At the secondary level, there is approximately 1 teacher to every 12 pupils across the OECS. Similarly there are variations in the ratios at the secondary level, these range from 9 to 24 across the Member States.
