I quickly got up, still half-asleep, as I ran down the stairs to tell mom about my dream. She was in the garden, and I couldn’t help but notice the same tree from my dream, far in the distance. I ran towards it, and when I got there, I climbed it. I was surprised to see a treehouse in place of the branch I sat on before.

I looked around; A few old books, a pile of dirty blankets, two names engraved on one of the walls. ‘Linda & Felix were here.’ I traced their names with my index finger, a longing feeling in my heart. I realized how much I missed them, despite them being real and somewhere out there. I sat on one of the beanbags in the corner, opening up a book. It had polaroid pictures of Linda and a boy, I assumed Felix, probably before he was turned into a cat. My heart ached even more with wishes to see them again. I continued flipping through the journal. My eyes began closing, even though I had just woken up an hour ago.

I gave in. I closed my eyes and fell asleep, in hopes of seeing my friends again.
