SPOTLIGHT ON

5. The IBCP - (International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme)

It was with great enthusiasm from both students and teachers that the IBCP at VIS was launched in September; an alternative programme for students seeking a flexible, personalized pathway to university, career programmes or the workplace.

Students select between 2 and 4 IB subjects, which complement their Career Related Study - a BTEC DIploma in Enterprise & Entrepreneurship. These academic and business based subjects are studied in conjunction with a core programme of Language Development, Personal & Professional Skills, Service Learning and the Reflective Project.

Here is what our pioneering first year students had to say about the programme:

“I’m really enjoying the programme so far because it gives me an opportunity to experience and acquire knowledge in a personal and hands-on way in a more interactive format. We concentrate on the areas that we are interested in and have future expectations with, for our desired pathways. It gives me the possibility to manage my personal and professional activities as well as concentrate on my academic performance.” - Violetta

“ The IBCP gives you much more independence and freedom in the last 2 years of school. It allows you to choose the subjects that you want and to focus on those that you wish in a future career. It provides hands-on experience in creating a real life business with JAYE through the BTEC component. The CP allows for personal development and growth through its skills based learning.” - Daniil

“The IBCP has really changed my attitude towards learning in an amazing way. The programme combines learning personal and professional skills with academic subjects of your choice; the attention being on self development, growth and the acquisition of essential skills. All the core subjects are really interesting and I’ve already learnt a lot. I came from a very different school system to the IBCP, and trust me I’m loving it.” - Nicholas
