Rufino As we recognised at the 50th Anniversary celebrations of St Margaret’s last year, a good number of our young people have gone on to have successful careers in various arts. One of those people is Pip Branson (son of Margaret Hunt). Pip has played guitar and/or violin in various very successful bands – Sidewinder, Something for Kate, and Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen. He has produced solo work as well as performing live. He has performed vocals in a commercial for Johnny Walker and even has a listing on the International Movie Data Base Website. He is now at the helm of his own outfit, the Pip Branson Corporation, and has added vocalist to his impressive list of credentials. During the “Art, Not Apart“ event in Canberra earlier this year, Pip’s band Rufino and the Coconuts performed a gig by Lake Burley Griffin at “Acton Beach”. Amongst the audience were proud family members, including mum Margaret, sister Liz and brother Paul. They and others from St Margaret’s thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to witness Pip’s performance, including a dip in the lake to finish. Their Facebook page lists the band members as: Rufino the Catalan Casanova - Vocals and Outfits The Colonel - Bongos, Percussion and Militia Detail Franklin Franklin - Guitar and Property Acquisition Electric Dreams - Vocals, Percussion and Ouija Board Bubbling Brooke - Vocals, Percussion and Champagne Fernanda Esperanto - Vocals, Percussion and Bi-Lingual Affairs The Seeker - Bass, Cravats, Concealed Weaponry Dizzee the Cabin Boy - Keyboards, Classical Guitar and Ship Shapeness Mr Goodtimes - Keyboards, Guitar, Good Times St Margaret’s News 10 May 2015
