The Travel Club The St. Margaret’s Travel Club has undertaken over 50 tours since its quiet beginning in 1993. Some have been modest one day visits to places of interest locally, but the vast majority have been to areas much further afield. An initial joining fee of $2.50 or $5 per couple is charged and that gets you onto the mailing list. Usually 3 or 4 Newsletters are circulated (either by post or email) each year to keep members up to date with arrangements for forthcoming tours. The Club holds an Annual Report & Planning Meeting, usually in November, and members are encouraged to attend and have an input into the planning process. It is managed by a small Management Committee appointed by, and responsible to, the church council. Day to day administration is carried out from St Margaret's Church Office. Lynda Dyer is the friendly voice you will speak to if you phone 6248 0282. The best time to catch her is Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, before lunch. New members are always welcome. From 8 - 16 May 2015, a group of 20 travellers consisting of 17 Canberrans, 2 Queenslanders and 1 Sydneyite embarked on our tour to the World Heritage Lord Howe Island. We travelled by coach to Sydney and stayed in a Hotel close to the airport where we were able to get together over dinner and coffee before travelling by plane to Lord Howe Island the next day. Our host Judy, from Leanda Lei Apartments, greeted us at the airport and made us feel very welcome. Once settled in we had some free time before being taken to a seafood dinner at the Pandanus Restaurant. We soon discovered Restauranteur Stephen also ran the Coral Café where we had breakfasts and some other meals, with fresh seafood dominating the menu. An introductory 3 hour Chase N Thyme Tour took us on all of the 9 km of road and the more interesting nooks and crannies of the Island.
