Proposed Travel Club Tour Mayfield Garden Tour in October 2015- Expressions of Interest At our annual meeting there were a number of people who were interested in visiting Mayfield Garden, near Bathurst, NSW. We have tentatively arranged a suitable tour with Stuarts for October when the garden is open for Spring and we need to know how many want to go so that we can confirm arrangements. Mayfield Garden near Oberon began to take shape in the mid-1990′s and today is one of the world’s largest privately owned cool climate gardens. Owned by the Hawkins family, Mayfield Garden extends across more than 160 acres (64H) and sits within a 5,000acre working farm. Numerous follies and features are blended into the landscape: the breath-taking 80metre cascade, the walled kitchen garden; the stunning tourist destination the Water Garden; the aviary, chapel, rose garden and Islamic style pond and much, much more. Whilst the Water Garden is open year-round, the Private Garden is opened to visitors for just a few days each autumn and spring. You can see some beautiful images of the Private Garden and Water Garden at http://www.mayfieldgarden.com.au/ . The proposed tour will be based in Bathurst and as well as lunch and a full afternoon in the gardens, will also include heritage buildings in Bathurst and Millthorpe as well as fine dining and country hospitality. The itinerary is for 4 days and 3 nights starting on 20 October. The cost has been set at $847 twin share ($1057single) based on 28 or more people travelling, BUT WE NEED THAT MANY PEOPLE FOR THE TOUR TO GO AHEAD. If we don’t have sufficient interest the tour will not be viable and will have to be cancelled. Please Let us know promptly if you are interested and likely to go, or even better if you definitely want to book if the tour is confirmed. Please phone or email Lynda at the church office (02 6248 0282 or [email protected]) to say 1. I AM INTERESTED AND LIKELY TO JOIN THE MAYFIELD GARDEN TOUR IN OCTOBER OR 2. I WANT TO BOOK FOR THE MAYFIELD GARDEN TOUR IN OCTOBER IF IT GOES AHEAD. - Judy Baker for St Margaret’s Travel Club Committee St Margaret's News 12 August 2015
