We wanted to introduce a collection that would be as much at home in a traditional country cottage as it would be in a modern townhouse . Clean and contemporary with minimal fuss but plenty of storage . In colourways that are timeless yet in keeping with the growing popularity for darker painted kitchen cabinetry .
Enter Kingscote . Inspired by the much-loved traditional shaker kitchen , it ’ s available in two colourways – a deep Forest Green and smoky Flint Grey . With warm undertones , both are rich and impactful colours that will stand the test of time .
The freestanding kitchen island , with its solid oiled oak top and slatted bottom shelf , is a standout piece from the collection designed to complement both oak and marble worktops . “ We purposefully made the top section and legs detachable ,” Victoria Darnell , Cotswold Company ’ s Senior Buyer tells us . “ This enabled us to increase the width but still ensure it would fit comfortably between a standard doorframe . The extra space helps to give it more usable work surface , plus additional depth in the drawers to maximise on storage .”
Like many of our collections , Kingscote is crafted using a range of traditional woodworking methods . Many of the frames are made with mortise and tenon joints for long-lasting strength , while the drawers are built with Dovetail joints for a stronger and more attractive finish and include soft close runners .
