Big Channel Cats Lead Late Summer Angling Parade
OREGON HOUSE - If you want hook big fish at Collins Lake , targeting channel catfish definitely offers you the best chance . Just ask Alex Sinha , who bagged a 14-1 / 4 lb . catfish on August 13 , reported Cassie Young at the Collins Lake Resort . He was using a piece of “ burger bun ” off the rental dock . Another happy angler landed a 12 pound channel catfish while bait fishing off the rental dock on the following day , There are some huge catfish prowling the waters of Collins , The biggest catfish caught out of Collins Lake this season was the 22 pound behemoth that Earl Hudson hooked and released while using a Rat-L- Trap on June 16 . Joe Jones recently demonstrated his bass fishing prowess by landing two spotted bass weighing 2 and 2-1 / 2 pounds off the rental dock . Few anglers have been targeting trout , but those who troll or bait fish in deep water are picking up some rainbows .. Sean Hanson caught a limit of trout two days in a row while trolling nightcrawlers in deep water . The current lake level is 62 feet from full and the surface water temperature is 80.4 degrees .
