8 Carver, Handley and Heather Glen elementary schools partnered with Children’s Health to host the first-ever Community Car Seat Event in GISD. Dozens of families received free car seat fittings and giveaways, as well as safety education, during the event held in memory of Carver student Layla Del Angel. 9 Encouraging reading, language skills development and academic success, Parsons Prekindergarten School introduced Readers are Leaders—a book distribution program that will supply six pieces of literature to each four-year-old by the end of 2015-16. 10 Garland ISD debuted its second Project Search site with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center this year.
